A village day in Leedri, Estonia, July 2016
July 9, 2016 a village day was organised in Leedri, Estonia. It was already fourth time to host such an event called a Juniper’s Day. This year it was organised in collaboration with LIFE Viva Grass project. The topic of the event was „Green meadows“ – importance and value of grasslands.
Visitors had a chance to participate in different lectures. Merle Kuris from BEF Estonia introduced the project LIFE Viva Grass and explained what kind of ecosystem services grasslands can offer. She also talked about good examples of grasslands’ management from all over Europe. Moreover, people were offered to take part in excursions to actually see those wonderful beach meadows that region has. Of course, good food and handcraft goods were also present.
Leedri, which was chosen as an Estonian Village of the Year in 2015, welcomed dozens of people with a nice weather and hospitality.
