One of the most picturesque landscapes right in the capital city of Lithuania was little used in any purpose for few decades. There were no farmers left in the urban area, grasslands were abandoned and breathtaking views were hidden by bushes. Despite the fact, some rare species could still be found in those grasslands.

In the area classical agriculture practice cannot be implemented, however these grasslands provides valuable ecosystem services for Vilnius inhabitants and have high potential to serve education and recreation purposes.

Project activities

• 11 ha of semi-natural grassland restored instead of previously planned 8 ha and recommendations for long-term grassland maintenance prepared.

• The  integrated planning tool was tested in the level of protected area.

• Interactive notice board built.

• 3 visitor days organized.  1st visitor day has been organized in September 2017, 2nd visitor day organised in June 2018, 3rd visitor day organized in 2018. 80 participants attended events.
